BEFORE PICTURE
Hello!
Welcome to my weightloss blog! I hope that as you follow my journey that you will be inspired to live a healthier lifestyle and that knowing you are watching, I will be held accountable to follow through on my goals. So I guess you could say we are in this together!
My weight has fluctuated my entire adult life. When I graduated highschool I was a healthy 130 lbs and a size 10. For my height this is very healthy (I am 5'8"). I have no need to try to be a size 2 or 4 or weigh less than 100 lbs. My goal is health. (I hope yours is too!)
So as I was saying, I grew up rather healthy and never over weight. I think it was when I moved out on my own that it started to fluctuate more and more. In college I slowly gained up to 170 lbs, my senior year I started working out an hour a day and lost 30 lbs in 3 months to where I was 140 lbs. I then got married and gained 50 lbs within 6 months, which put me at 190 lbs. It was a combination of soda, junk food and no control and no exercise. Within a couple years I was divorced and starting trying my hardest to loose the weight. I slowly managed to get back down to 170 lbs over a year and a half. Then I took a teaching job (and became overwhelmingly stressed) and packed on another 50 lbs in 6 months. So now at 230 lbs and a size 20 I was exhausted and stressed. My favorite comfort foods were pizza and ice cream. I think that's all I ate for the entire year I taught junior high. I began to realize it just wasn't for me and too stressful so then I went back to graphic design. I then lost about 20 lbs and stayed there for several years. Then I decided I wanted to become a runner (imagine that!) and started training for a 5k. I slowly began to lose wight and got down to 175 lbs in 6 months. Then I met my lovely husband and I loved his cooking!! :) I slowly put back on the weight getting up to 200 lbs again, we got married and I gained the extra 46 lbs.

I am tired and achy all the time. I sweat way too much, my face breaks out, I can't fit into any of my clothes, I feel terribly uncomfortable all the time. I have noticed my knees and feet hurting, as well as, having lower back pain. My overall health is getting worse and my goal is to change this for a lifetime.
I don't want a quick fix, I want the end all of fixes. I want to be healthy and strong for my future family and myself. I have no energy and need it more than ever! I know I am not the only one who is going through this and I hope to use this blog as a way to discover, learn, and report my journey through accomplishing this mountain of a task...life long health and fitness. A new lifestyle.
Current Weight and Measurements: (July 2013)
HEIGHT: 5'8" WEIGHT: 230 lbs GOAL WEIGHT: 140 lbs
SIZE: 20 Womens GOAL SIZE: 11/12 Womens
Waist: 42" Arms: 14" Hips: 48" Bust: 43" Thighs: 22"
When I measured myself with my husband's help (we measured him too) I was only a few inches and pounds from being the same size as him. It was a real eye opener. I suppose in my mind my husband was always supposed to be bigger than me. We have both gained so much weight since we were married last year in November. I personally have gained 50+ lbs in a year.
Our typical day is largely inactive. I am a graphic designer and I work full-time and own my own business full-time so I work 15+ hours a day at the computer. We also eat a lot of sweets and large portions. My husband loves to cook (I hope I can convince him to Eat Clean!) and so with his awesome cooking comes more lbs. I believe it is really about portion control. We eat mostly healthy, organic foods but our portions are not healthy.
I want to share with you some of my bad habits that I hope to change into good habits one step at a time. I have been reading Joyce Meyer's Making Good Habits and plan to focus on building good habits (vs. trying to break bad ones) One of the things she point out is focusing on the positive and focusing on what you are trying for not what you are doing wrong.
So here is a short (long) list of habits I hope to build:
1) Drink Water (Stop Drinking Diet Soda)
2) Healthy Beauty Routine (Take care of myself better)
3) Take a Multivitamin
4) Daily Time with God
5) Eat Healthy (No fast food or processed food)
6) Exercise Daily
7) Regular Dentist Check-Ups
8) Start going to a Dermatologist
9) Regular Doctor Check-ups
10) Better Stress Management (Time-management)
My plan is to focus on one of these per 30 days, in order to build each into a lasting habit. I am going to start with the less overwhelming habits and build up to the more substantial. For me this will help me build my self-discipline muscle which is hugely out of shape...so like, small little good habits (such as taking a multivitamin) building up to the bigger habits (such as eating healthy). As I accomplish these goals I plan to mark them off of my list here.
